Jan. 11, 2013 - Siem Reap and Day 2 of Angkor
Today we woke EARLY to watch the sunrise over Angkor Wat. Thats a 4:30 wake up call to be at the temple at 5:30 to watch to sun come up. Angkor Wat is the largest religious building in the world. It is surrounded by a HUGE mote.
Then it was off to Bayen. Its a cluster of many many face temples. Faces were carved on all for sides of the towers in most cases.
Then Bapuon.
Then we had to take a break and head back to the hotel for a nap. After a little rejuvenation we headed out to lunch. This included snake, crocodile, chicken, and frog legs cooked over a Cambodian style BBQ grill right at the table.
Then we tried something new. For a dollar we got to stick our feet in a tank of fish and let them nibble the dead skin off for 10 minutes. As soon as I stuck my feet in they all rushed over and started nibbling. I was laughing uncontrollably at how much it tickled. I was literally in tears. It just felt so funny. For another 3 bucks we got our feet massaged for 30 minutes. Ahhhhh!
That night was pretty low key. Dinner and an Apsara show at a local restaurant.
What I have learned:
Getting up at 4:30am really makes you want a nap at 10am. Especially after hiking up, down, and around temples.
